Well, it went...

Posted on Oct 29th, 2006 by mary : untitled mary
I actually did it.  There weren't many people there, and they were a lot more conservative than I expected, and it slowly dawned on me when the other participants sang gospel and everybody was blessing everybody, that I was in a different environment than I expected. Kind of cool because there were no overt signs or attempts to appeal to a particular clientele or to support any particular perspective.  So I still talked it up, but the songs that really drive the points home were not the songs that got the most applause.... So a good lesson in knowing your audience.

I believe that we are all on the same path and share the same needs,so I tend to approach
The Garden Planet Project from that perspective anyway.   When I said I may be booking a show, they expressed a positive interest. And truly, they appeared receptive and everyone stayed to the end.  I was on stage for maybe 90 minutes or so, and they welcomed my accompaniment when the others performed, long-haired and slightly wild crone that I am...

So I feel very good that my message can be heard across a culture gap. I will definitely book a show, mindful of course of the balance between being respectful of others' perspectives but not yielding or concealing the truth for expedience or gain. I think it is good for me to stretch, instead of always "preaching to the choir" so to speak...

When I figure out how to change a .doc to a picture, I will post my poster.  I included a link to zaadz in the "Seed Catalog," along with www.shiftinaction.com and the free hugs video on you tube. I highly recommend it! Also a link for consumer unions at www.consumersunion.org, and for a peaceful protest outfit at http://www.winwithoutwar.org.  I hope the links work: they are my first ever!

I'd love to post the poster, but that is another day...

Journey on! And thanks for caring...

Yes, stretching is good!  But the ninety-minute thing, well, that was because I was the only one besides the audience who showed up for a while. Well, there was this one guy who was there, but was a karoke-type deal and he was waiting for the tapes… But anyway, I was a little unprepared but gave it a good go.  And marked the rough spots for practice. Lots of practice!

We always did create our reality.  What's weird is people making a big deal of it.

I think most of us don't realize we are creating all the time.   The biggest indication is blame, are you blaming others for what happens to you, or taking personal responsibility?

If you Know that it is of your creation, what is the blame for?

The way I see it, there is a distinction between accountability, the tracing of cause and effect, and blame. Blame is a judgment, and accountability is an adjustment to reality.  If my experience is what is at this moment, well, whatever went into the making of it is done. Some of that  is a result of my input, for which I am accountable and which is a good indicator of changes that can be considered in a planful way.

But there is also an acknowledgment that many inputs are not under our control, and those are only amenable to change via leverage of some sort in the objective world. But to blame others for their input would have to be based on an assumption that you are privy to all of the inputs that have gone into that other person's experience, and judge that person faulty for not being capable of something they obviously aren't capable of or they would have behaved differently to begin with!  What is done is behind us, and now it is merely a collection of data that can be mined for goodness or for ill…

We develop a lot  more influence over out inputs when we reach for understanding with an open mind and and open heart.  When we can see that we humans are basically generous, sweet, playful and curious until threatened, then maybe we can more easily give eachother the benefit of the doubt, and not rush to judgment.

Thank you for your interest!

At least that's my thinking….

Interesting, although currently I am much more comfortable that my thoughts and actions, in this life and who knows how long ago are very much in play with ALL that goes on around me.

Not just traffic accidents, divorce, bankruptcy, those are all personal situations I definitely had a hand in, but wars, starvation, poverty….While I don't take them on as a burden, I also feel my actions are directly affecting the continuation of many of the worlds ills.  It is up to me to do all I can to change that.

I completely agree. I see that the dynamics that form me do not stop with me, and that my stance effects my perception and loads the universal dice. The resulting self-reinforcing feedback loops resonate in the larger society as effects. When the results of my actions aggregate with the actions of others, mass movement occurs.

I see everyone as a perfect center for action, and that aggregates of action wield tremendous power in the social formation.

I see the media as the social aspect of our own intellect, which processes information by reflection, and can become quite narcissistic and delusional.

I see the ignorance in government as a prominence of our own ignorance, an aggregate of fear that prevents social accountability and reduces our cognitive capacity to its base dichotomy: This or that, simple and concrete, no room for ambiguity or complexity.

This fear-based thinking is merely an aggregate of our own, which is maybe why it appeals so inexplicably to the masses, who seem otherwise as individuals to be perfectly intelligent, just grasping for certainties and external controls… And if this isn't a dampening response to anxiety, what is?

So when we stand centered and strong, fearless and harmless, we aggregate into strong centers. It has to start within each and every one of us until the aggregate loads the dice and the paradigm shifts… It is happening now, so lean hard! And make noise!

“you can't make us compromise, and you can't make us lie… Take our freedom and all you can do is watch us die…” mnp
